Shag Rock – Moreton Bay

Shag Rock is a photographers haven, protected from the outside seas, giving all the small critters shelter and protection from rough conditions. It’s a great site for beginner divers, not excessively deep, and loads of creatures to see without having to swim long distances from the anchor chain!

I love hanging here with turtles, octopus, rays, cuttlefish and all the thousands of cardinalfish and pilchards schooling in the shallows.

(PS – the name ‘Shag Rock’ comes from the common nickname for a diving seabird – the Cormorant. But ‘Cormorant Rock’ sounds a bit of a mouthful right?)

July 2015 – a lovely day out meeting the Go Dive team!
